Social and Professional Workplace Integration Program
Approach
The Fringues & Cie program is centred on a path to employment and proposes a global approach to training and development in the professional, personal and social domains. Workforce integration is a group process that encourages exchange, intercultural understanding and mutual assistance among participants.
The participants acquire skills through an approach centred on “coaching” in a real work setting - the Fringues & Cie boutique. The program structure is progressive, providing more support to the participants at the beginning of the program and then encouraging them to develop their autonomy, initiative, resourcefulness, critical judgement and creativity.
Program Content
Professional Training
The training phase consists of learning different aspects of retail sales and customer service. To reinforce these learned skills, training activities are alternated with work in the boutique.
Working in the Boutique
The Fringues & Cie boutique offers a real work environment which includes a computerized cash system, lay away plan administration, various regulations and procedures, merchandize management, promotional tools, etc. This part of the program allows participants to use the skills they have acquired during the program’s training phase.
Personal Plan
Personal and social development workshops are offered throughout the program. This type of group activity aims to foster self-knowledge and the acquisition of interpersonal skills
Individual meetings with a psycho-social counsellor allow participants to monitor the progress of their personal and professional objectives and implement changes if necessary.
Internships and joining the workforce
During this transition to work, the program team offers workshops on job search techniques and arranges workplace internships. The workplace internship allows participants to use the skills they’ve gained and also helps them develop contacts with employers.
Follow-up and Evaluation
The program staff works together to provide participants with a personalized follow-up. Different methods of evaluation are used to assess the pace of learning and the strengths and skills acquired (individual meetings, journal keeping, and group meetings).
